Heard around Singapore’s founder community

I’m building my dream, but I have no idea if I’m doing the business stuff right.

We’re here so you don’t have to figure everything out. We provide accounting, tax and compliance support built around startups and the people running them.

The people behind the numbers

Hey — we’re Recounta.

We provide accounting and tax services, powered by SAAS, to Singapore’s early-stage startups.

If you’re building something — or just want to know where you stand — let’s have coffee. The first hour is on us, and it stays on us even if you never hire us.

Recounta, as a software

Half firm, half software. The software half is RAAS.

The workspace every client gets — deadlines, documents, questions and tools in one place. These are real screens, not mock-ups.

The DIY Tools screen: nine tools in one grid — invoice, claims, credit and debit note builders beside the runway, tax, hiring, cap table and pay calculators.

All-in-one

Invoices, claims, payroll, files and the calculators — one login, one place. No hopping between six tabs to find where anything lives.

The Engagement screen: the letter of engagement marked 'Needs you' with the plain-English line 'Without it, work on your books can't start.'

Founder-first

Written for the person running the company, not the accountant: plain English, three status words — Needs you, With us, Done — and nothing lands on your plate without a reason.

The Files screen: an information request 7 of 10 uploaded, a question answered inline, and the letter of engagement signed on the page.

Collaborative

Work you can watch. Questions answered in place, uploads ticked off as they land, signatures done on the page — you always know whose move it is.

Our Services

Good accounting should feel made to order.

No bundles you don’t need, no jargon you didn’t ask for. Two ways in — and both start with a conversation, not an invoice.

01

Start with a free 60-minute clinic

Bring your questions, your shoebox of receipts, your half-finished Xero. You leave knowing where you actually stand, what’s urgent, and what fixing it would involve — whether or not you ever hire us. No invoice, no obligation.

02

Then hand over the books

Monthly bookkeeping, ECI and corporate tax — done by an assigned accountant who answers in plain English, with Xero included on every paid plan and every deadline watched in your workspace.

Frequently asked

FAQs

What accounting services do Singapore SMEs usually need?

It's tempting to treat accounting as one tax form a year — but the calendar holds more than that. Done properly it means monthly financial statements and IRAS corporate tax returns, spread through the year so nothing becomes overwhelming right before a deadline.

When do I need to file my corporate tax return?

Estimated Chargeable Income (ECI) is due three months after your financial year ends, and Corporate Income Tax Return on 30 November every year. This applies even if your company has made a loss or was inactive. If you do not remember anything else, always keep these two deadlines in mind.

Do new companies qualify for IRAS tax exemption?

Yes. IRAS offers a tax exemption scheme for qualifying companies during their first three years of assessment, which can significantly reduce the amount of tax payable on the first portion of profits. It only works if your accounts are properly prepared and your filings are done correctly.

Can I do my own bookkeeping instead of hiring an accountant?

Of course, and many founders understandably try to handle it themselves in the early days. The problem is that bookkeeping mistakes tend to show up at the worst possible moment: when authorities question a filing, a late notice lands, or investors ask to see your books. By then, the fines or missed funding can cost far more than getting things done properly from the start.
